Brighter Path Montgomery was established in 2013 as a residential treatment facility serving females in need of a secure environment and in need of intensive residential treatment services. The program has 20 intensive care beds licensed by Alabama Department of Human Resources. Emphasizing positive peer interaction to focus on healthy adolescent development, the treatment staff uses Guided Group Interaction (GGI) to provide comprehensive, challenging, and therapeutic services for adolescent females ages 12 to 18. The GGI approach emphasizes values and team building. GGI empowers residents to make changes by learning from each other, improves social skills, and helps them become positive leaders of their peers.

The program also employs the gender specific treatment model Girls Circle. By encouraging structure and an emotionally safe environment, the Girls Circle Model aims to increase girls' ability to make healthy connections as well as recognize and utilize their strengths. Also, the Montgomery program utilizes Cognitive Behavioral and Trauma-Informed Care approaches to provide individual, group, and family therapy, gender specific treatment services, recreational activities, substance abuse education, psycho-educational groups, crisis intervention services, basic living skills, medical care, and educational services. The educational program is SACS accredited and offers all core subjects according to the Alabama Course of Study. Special education services are provided, which includes evaluations and development and monitoring of IEPs.
